24 Illegal Border Crossers Arrested in Banteay Meanchey

Banteay Meanchey: 24 Cambodians have been arrested in Banteay Meanchey for attempting to cross illegally into Thailand. They were picked up by the Cambodian Border Guard Force, which has been enforcing strict monitoring in the districts of Malai and Thmor Puok.

Banteay Meanchey Military Operation Area commander, Brigadier General Chim Bun An, has told EAC News that of the 24 arrested, 20 were in the Malai district. All 24 though were trying to cross the border illegally seeking work in Thailand. They have been transferred to a quarantine centre.

Border guard forces have been arresting illegal border crossers almost daily despite strict warnings from the government about the Delta variant in the border region.
